Field Searches
Search specific fields or combinations of fields to refine your search.
Title Search
This search looks only for terms listed in the Title field of the abstract record.


Subject Search
This search looks only for words in the publication title, annotation, and index terms (terms from the NCJRS Thesaurus).


Author Search
This search looks only for authors', corporate authors, and editors' names, including both people and organizations. Because some records include the authors' full names and others include only the first initial of the first name, users need to search for both. For example, to search for materials by Jane Smith, enter:

This search will find the initial "j" or "jane" adjacent to the word "smith." Use quotation marks to search for an exact phrase.

Journal Name Search This search looks only for terms listed in the Journal Name/Journal Title field of the abstract record.


NCJ Number Search
All publications in the database have an accession number, also called an NCJ number. For example, to search for NCJ 158544, type:
