Trafficking in Persons - Training and Technical Assistance

The following training and technical assistance opportunities are a sample of those available through nationally recognized agencies and associations.

Center for the Advancement of Human Rights (CAHR) Victims of Human Trafficking Project
The Project is funded through a contract from the Florida Department of Children and Families, Office of Refugee Services (DCF/ORS). DCF/ORS and CAHR work together to help implement new Federal legislation to better serve victims of sex trafficking, involuntary domestic servitude, and forced labor. Technical assistance is provided to a variety of groups including law enforcement agencies, service providers, and legal advocates.

International Organization for Adolescents
The International Organization for Adolescents (IOFA) is an independent, nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status in the United States. IOFA was founded in 1999 in response to a gap in programming and services for adolescents around the world. Based in Brooklyn, New York, IOFA currently provides technical assistance to communities in eight countries in order to develop and implement sustainable programs and services for young people. The IOFA has developed an International Youth Trafficking Prevention Initiative and is working to educate and empower young people who are at risk for human trafficking in both destination and receiving countries.

Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center
The mission of the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) is to bridge the gap among knowledge experience, and victim assistance practice to help the still-evolving victim assistance field successfully meet the challenges of an increasingly complex service delivery environment. OVC TTAC offers both online and onsite training and technical assistance (TA) opportunities.

STOP the Traffic
STOP the Traffic is a program supported by the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA). LAFLA is the frontline law firm for low-income people in Los Angeles. STOP the Traffic provides free training on human trafficking throughout the United States. The project has taught hundreds of legal advocates, social service providers, and law enforcement personnel to effectively identify and assist victims of trafficking.
