Arizona

Arizona Office of the Attorney General: Stop Identity Theft
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. A brochure is available for Arizona residents (also available in Spanish.)

California

California ID Theft Registry
California's Identity Theft Database was established to help victims of identity theft who have been wrongfully accused of or associated with crimes.

California Office of Privacy Protection: Identity Theft
This Web site provides resources for consumers on how to avoid becoming victims of identity theft and how to report the crime if they are victimized.

Colorado

Colorado Attorney General: ID Theft
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. Also provides resources for victims of identity theft.

Delaware

Delaware Attorney General Consumer Protection Division
Provides informal mediation services in order to resolve disputes without court intervention and provides a myriad of outreach and educational services for the consumer for various matters, including identity theft.

Florida

Florida Identity Theft Resource and Response Center
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. Also provides resources for victims of identity theft, including Florida's Identity Theft Victim Kit.

Georgia

Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs: Identity Theft
Provides informationon how to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft, as well as information on how to report suspected identity theft.

Hawaii

Hawaii Department of the Attorney General: ID Theft Alert
Provides inforamtion for Hawaii residents regarding identity theft cases that have been brought to the attention of the Hawaii Attorney General.

Idaho

Idaho Office of the Attorney General: Identity Theft
Provides information to residents on how to prevent identity theft what to do if they are a victim of identity theft; how to understanding and protect their credit; and how to avoid credit card fraud.

Indiana

This Web site, which is maintained by the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, provides information on identity theft and other fraud-related activities.

Kentucky

Kentucky Office of the Attorney General: Identity Theft
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. Also provides resources for victims of identity theft.

Maryland

Maryland Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division
Provides mediation services to consumers to help resolve complaints against businesses. Also provides the publication Identity Theft: What to Do if It Happens to You.

Massachusetts

Massachusetts Attorney General's Office
Provides a brochure titled Identity Theft: It Could Happen to You.

Michigan

Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice Identity Theft Program
The partnership works in collaboration with business and industry to secure competitive and personal information and to prevent the theft of employees' identities.

Protecting Against Identity Misrepresentation and Theft at the University of Michigan
This program helps students at the University of Michigan avoid becoming victims of identity theft.

Minnesota

Minnesota Office of the Attorney General Consumer Division: Protecting Your Privacy
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. Also provides resources for victims of identity theft.

Mississippi

Mississippi Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. Provides the publication, What to Do When There's More than One You.

Montana

Montana Department of Justice: Identity Theft
This site provides information about the Montana Identity Theft Passport Program, as well as general tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft.

Nebraska

Nebraska Attorney General's Office: Identity Theft Information
Provides a toll-free number for victims of identity theft to contact for assistance, as well as brochures for victim's. Also provides information in Spanish.

North Carolina

NoScamNC.gov
Provides resources for North Carolina residents on how to prevent becoming a victim of identity theft. Also provides North Carolina's Identity Theft Kit for residents that have been victimized by identity theft.

North Dakota

North Dakota Office of Attorney General: Identity Theft
Provides resources for victims of identity theft, including instructions on how to report the crime.

Ohio

Ohio Identity Theft Verification Passport
This program provides identity theft victims a method of establishing that their identity has been stolen so that they may begin rehabilitating their credit history and identifying any fraudulent criminal charges.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Attorney General: ID Theft Toolkit
Provides resources for victims of identity theft, including instructions on how to report the crime.

Texas

Texas Attorney General Consumer Protection Division: Identity Theft
Provides information on how consumers can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft. Also provides resources for victims of identity theft.

Utah

Utah Office of the Attorney General: Identity Theft
On this Web site, the Utah Office of the Attorney General provides resources to help residents avoid becoming victims of identity theft and referrals to organizations that assist victims of identity theft.

Virginia

Virginia Office of the Attorney General: Identity Theft
This Web site provides information and resources to help residents avoid becoming victims of identity theft and information to assist victims of identity theft.

Washington

Washington Office of the Attorney General: Identity Theft and Privacy
Provides information to help consumers and businesses deal with privacy and identity theft issues and to explain efforts by the office to respond to citizen concerns in these areas.

National

Identity Theft Resource Center: State and Local Resources
Provides a list of State and local programs that victims of identity theft can contact to seek assistance in their case.

Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) Directory of Crime Victim Services
Provides contact information that allows service providers and individuals to locate nonemergency crime victim services in the United States and abroad for various crimes, including identity theft.
